Wireframes
Problem: Users didn’t know what to do once they had a DI account, or they were overwhelmed with all of the investing choices.
Solution: Wireframes for the “Tools” section give users information about potential investments, sectors and research, but in a user friendly format.
Welcome wizard
Problem: Users come to the site with any level of investment knowledge. The interface was dull and dry with only data views.
Solution: Create a page and interface that welcomes the user to the world of DI and asks a couple questions to acclimatize them to the site and some of the tools.
Welcome wizard- Strategy
Problem: Many investors want a visual representation of their asset growth
Solution: Within the welcome wizard - I added a ‘strategy’ cta which gave them variables to adjust (via sliders) to see the growth potential of their investments.
RBC DI Home page
Problem : Users were confused when going to the home page and holdings page and got caught in a click-cycle of needing to back to the home page to view all accounts.
Solution: Make the Home page more intuitive and eliminate that user click-cycle with a jump menu for accounts. I also created a widget on the right rail that surfaced markets data - that could be customized by the user. There was also a quick transfer “CTA” as well as a Top links widget.
New User Account Open
Problem: Users could not apply for and open an account only on digital.
Solution: We partnered with Verify me to authorize users digitally, and allow them to open the account 100% digitally.
Portfolio panel
Problem: Users wanted to see a portfolio summary of their account on the same page that they could see their accounts and holdings
Solution: I integrated a portfolio summary panel accordion widget that showed the client their cash, investment totals and the daily change amounts - in a table or chart format.
Homepage prototype
Problem: We did not know what information users found most useful on the site - given that it varies for the different client segments
Solution: I created this prototype once data was received and analyzed from user surveys to surface key areas of information - timely, relevant information that gave a quick overview of the users accounts with DI.
Home page prototype
Problem: Showcase practice accounts to users
Solution: We created the practice accounts view to exist in the regular accounts ecosystem. This was done so that users did not get confused with another layout/location for practice accounts. By putting the practice accounts data close by and change the color/label, the user knows that is where they can practice with certain investments/strategies.
Investors Toolkit
Problem: lack of ideas and confusion once in the space of DI
Solution: create a tool to help users "Learn" about Direct Investing and show them "Tools" on how to pick investments
Investors Toolkit - Final product
Problem: Needed a page on the site that gave the users options for learning about the platform and the tools available to them.
Solution: I created workshops, surveys, cardsorts, sketches, wireframes, and a prototype to see how users would interact based on their needs and investment style.
